Former Hickman head coach headed to join Rock Bridge football's coaching staff
Cedric Alvis will still be on the sidelines this upcoming fall, but he'll be wearing green to go with his gold instead of purple.
Early Wednesday evening, Rock Bridge head coach Matt Perkins announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the program will be adding Alvis to its coaching staff for the 2024 season. Alvis will serve as an assistant on the defensive side of the ball coaching the secondary.

"I'm looking forward to being on the same side of the field with coach Alvis here at Rock Bridge," Perkins said. "Always admired his work ethic from afar and eager to have him bring great energy to our program."
Alvis was Hickman's head coach before resigning in November after an 0-10 season. He held the position for the Kewpies for six seasons and while the on the field results didn't translate to many wins, seven Kewpies signed to play collegiate football during his tenure.
A Hickman alum, Alvis is no stranger to the Columbia area. He played for the Kewpies, becoming a three-time all-district and two-time all-state selection. In his senior year in 2004, Hickman won the state title. He also served as Battle's defensive coordinator before taking the Hickman job in 2018.
