Former Cal linebacker Trey Paster has said he'll transfer to the Colorado State football team.

An experienced former Pac-12 linebacker will join the Colorado State football team.

Trey Paster said Sunday he'll play for the Rams after spending the last three seasons at Cal, where he was a starter at one point.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Paster played in 20 games at Cal, recording 27 tackles (4.5 for loss) and recovering two fumbles. One of those fumbles was returned for a touchdown in a win over USC. He started five games during the 2021 season.

Paster comes to CSU as a grad transfer and has two seasons of eligibility remaining. He was a three-star recruit out of high school, choosing Cal over Oregon, Arizona, Fresno State and Nevada (where current CSU coach Jay Norvell and several members of the current staff were at the time).

Paster and CSU cornerback Chigozie Anusiem were teammates at Cal.

The Rams are replacing both starting linebackers from the 2022 season, Cam'Ron Carter and Dequan Jackson, after both graduated.

Paster is a candidate to start. Chase Wilson and Drew Kulick were the top linebackers in spring, but Kulick was injured and missed much of the spring camp.

Paster is the second transfer addition to the CSU defense, joining former North Dakota State safety Dom Jones.
