Former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Mike Williams has passed away. He was 36.

According to Spectrum News, Williams was injured during an accident while he was working on a construction site. Via a GoFundMe page, it was stated that Williams was partially paralyzed when a steel beam fell on his head while at work. He suffered breathing problems in the hospital and never regained consciousness.

Williams was a fourth-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010. He finished second in Rookie of the Year voting behind Los Angeles Rams quarterback Sam Bradford.

After three seasons in Tampa, Williams was traded to Buffalo, his hometown team.

Williams spent the 2014 season with the Bills–the last team he would play for in the NFL. His tenure in Buffalo ended on injury designation due to a calf issue.

Prior to his pro career, Williams attended Syracuse University and is a Buffalo native. He attended Riverside High School.
