Former Alabama WR Jameson Williams placed on Lions’ NFI list to start the season

On Tuesday, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero tweeted that Jameson Williams was being placed on the Detroit Lions‘ non-football injury (NFI) list. Along with that, he also mentioned that Williams is likely to miss at least the first four games. This was seemingly the Lions’ plan all along.

Williams was a standout wide receiver at Alabama last season. The Ohio State transfer hauled in 79 receptions for 1,579 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. He also won the prestigious Biletnikoff Award which recognizes the nation’s top wide receiver in college football. Unfortunately, he suffered a torn ACL in the National Championship game against Georgia. As a result, he fell to the Detroit Lions with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft.

Now, it appears that Williams’ season debut won’t come until October. The Lions finished last season with a 3-13-1 record. The Lions’ front office was thrilled to add an explosive wide receiver like Jameson Williams to their draft class. Alabama fans as well as the rest of the league are ready to see how he stacks up against the best talent across the league.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Williams’ injury status as well as other former Alabama players in the NFL.
