Football: Vote for the Varsity 845 players of the week (Oct. 12-14)

Online voting for the Varsity 845 football player of the week is now open. Go to RecordOnline.com/sports and vote as often as you like until 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21 (no computer bot voting, please).

Nominations are pulled from reports to Varsity 845 and other sources. Players from Orange, Ulster and Sullivan counties are eligible. One player per school is permitted during each regular-season week.

This week's contest is split between 11-man and 8-man football - you can vote in both contests each time you visit.

Last week, James Musco of Chester picked up 58 percent of the 11-man vote, topping Liam Benzinger of Burke Catholic. Nicholas Storms of Fallsburg earned nearly 50 percent of the 8-man vote, beating out Reese Rotella of Onteora and Michael Cathcart of Rondout Valley.

Previous winners include Latrell Willis of Warwick, Plexico Brooks of Pine Bush, Tyler Vanderpool of Cornwall, Josh Fanslau of Tri-Valley, James Gescheidle of Highland, Billy Brush of Rondout Valley, Josh Thibodeau of Minisink Valley and Rally Cruz of Sullivan West.

The list is short this week because four games were not reported to Varsity 845 by the coaches, in addition to visitor’s information for several more, as required.

The winner will be announced via X / Twiter @Varsity845. Previous winners will be ineligible for future votes until the postseason begins.
