Following a personnel investigation, John and Traci Hunt will return to their positions at Fairdale High School on Monday, Jefferson County Public Schools announced Friday.

John Hunt is the boys' basketball coach at Fairdale, and Traci Hunt — his wife ― is a teacher at the school.

On Thursday, JCPS had confirmed the Hunts were reassigned in the midst of an investigation. The school district did not provide any of the details that led to the investigation.

John Hunt is in his first season as Fairdale’s boys' basketball coach, leading the Bulldogs to a 25-6 record entering Friday’s 21st District Tournament final against Holy Cross.

Assistant coach Phil Board is expected to coach the Bulldogs on Friday before John Hunt returns for the team’s Sixth Region Tournament opener Tuesday.

John Hunt was named The Courier Journal’s Sixth Region Coach of the Year on Friday morning.

Traci Hunt was principal at Moore High School from 2020-23 before joining the teaching staff at Fairdale.

John Hunt declined to comment when contacted by The Courier Journal.
