Flour Bluff girls basketball coach James McMinn records 700th career win

Flour Bluff girls basketball coach James McMinn is the newest member of the 700-win club after the Hornets captured a 57-50 win against Mansfield Legacy during the first day of the Georgetown Tournament on Thursday.

McMinn, who has been coaching at Flour bluff for more than 30 years, has led the Hornets to several district titles, regional tournament appearances and a state championship game appearance in 2017.

McMinn was named the Caller-Times All-South Texas Coach of the Year following the Hornets' run to state in 2017 and recorded his 500th win that same season.

Flour Bluff improved to 7-3 with its victory against the Broncos and will continue play in the tournament on Friday.

The Hornets open District 29-5A South Zone play next month against Carroll.
