The Florida State Seminoles will face the North Carolina Tar Heels in an ACC Tournament quarterfinal game on Thursday.

In the second round of the ACC Tournament, Florida State defeated Virginia Tech 86-76 to advance to the quarterfinals. Jamir Watkins had a career-high of 34 points and led the Seminoles in scoring, while Jalen Warley contributed 18 points in the win against the Hokies.

The North Carolina Tar Heels have won both regular season matchups against the Seminoles. In fact, Florida State has yet to beat North Carolina since the 2020-21 regular season.

The Tar Heels are entering the tournament with some notable ACC honors. North Carolina's RJ Davis has been named the league's player of the year. Additionally, Hubert Davis, the head coach of the Tar Heels, has also been named coach of the year, which is a significant achievement considering it is only his third season with the team.

ESPN: North Carolina has a 87% chance to win

According to the ESPN's Matchup Predictor, The North Carolina Tar Heels have a 87.6% to beat the Florida State Seminoles in the quarterfinal game of the ACC Tournament

Action Network: Pick Florida State

Sean Paul writes: "I don't see Florida State getting totally blown out in this one. While UNC is more rested, that could lead to some rust following an emotional win over Duke. It should turn into a high-possession game with the rampant pace of both teams. As long as the Seminoles hit just enough shots, this one could look the same as the previous two games."

Winners and Whiners: North Carolina

Chris King writes: "Florida State may have taken down Virginia Tech in the second round but this is going to be a much tougher challenge. The Tar Heels handled the Seminoles in the two meetings this season, winning by eight and seven points in the two matchups. North Carolina is tough to try and keep off the glass, which is going to be a major issue for the Seminoles, who have struggled on the boards. Bacot and Ingram will do a solid job giving the Tar Heels points on the offensive end and limiting secondary options for the Seminoles on the defensive end of the floor. Look for North Carolina to cruise into the semifinals by taking care of business here."
