This Florida softball player selected in the Athletes Unlimited draft

Athletes Unlimited Softball held its 2023 Athletes Unlimited College draft Monday, May 8, on YouTube — which included the selection of one Florida Gator. College players were invited by the player executive committee to join the league and their names were called live via stream ahead of the league’s fourth season.

The one Gator to hear her name during Monday night’s draft was graduate student Charla Echols, who has been among the best athletes in the sport during her Gainesville tenure. Most recently, she made the 2023 USA Softball Player of the Year Top 50 “Watch List” as well as participating as a member of the 2022 Team USA Member, which earned a gold medal at the World Games.

Season 4 begins July 28 when 56 of the world’s best professional softball players battle it out over a five-week span of competition at Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, Illinois. Athletes Unlimited Softball is a “women’s professional softball league changing the game into can’t-miss-a-thing, action-packed moments you’ve never seen before.”
