Florida basketball remains voteless in USA TODAY Coaches Poll after Week 3

It was a rough week for Florida basketball, which spent a few days on the west coast in Portland, Oregon, for this year’s Phil Knight Legacy tournament. The Gators entered the bracket with just one loss — coming against the Florida Atlantic Owls — before dropping two more to the Xavier Musketeers on Thursday and West Virginia Mountaineers on Sunday.

Todd Golden’s team did manage to sneak a win over the Oregon State Beavers into the loss sandwich, but it was not nearly enough to convince the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll that this edition of the Orange and Blue deserved any attention. Much like in last week’s update, Florida failed once again to earn any votes.

The Gators held five votes entering the season before dropping to just one vote after notching a pair of wins in the opening week of the schedule — albeit against some weak competition. Since the FAU loss, however, the voters have lost all confidence in the Orange and Blue.

Florida gets its next chance to earn back some respect on Wednesday night against the Florida A&M Rattlers in Gainesville. The intrastate tangle tips off at 8 p.m. EST inside the O’Connell Center and can either be watched on the SEC Network+ or heard on the Gators Sports Network.
