Florida Atlantic 83, Warner 50

Florida Atlantic finished the first half on a 30-10 run and rode that cushion to an 83-50 victory over Warner in men's college basketball Sunday afternoon in Boca Raton, Fla.

The Owls won their third in a row to get over the .500 mark at 5-4. Their NAIA opponent from Lake Wales, Fla., lost its fourth in a row to fall to 6-5.

The teams were tied at 13-13 when the Owls took command.

Freshman DeVonte Thornton started the surge with his second straight basket with 11:20 left in the first half, and by halftime, FAU was on top 43-23.

The Owls continued to push things over the second half, and they led by 33 points on sophomore Kelvin Penn's jumper that made it 76-43 with 3:49 remaining. Their biggest lead was 35 points, 83-48, with under a minute left.

Coming off a career-high 34-point night against Stetson, Owls senior Greg Gantt struggled from the field, making only six of 21 field-goal attempts. However, he still led all scorers with 19 points. Freshman Stefan Moody added 18 off the bench for FAU.

Warner, which came in averaging more than 87 points a game, didn't have a player reach double figures. Guard Ray Victor scored a team-high nine points.
