Flippin' out! Tyreek Hill captures celebratory backflip with selfie video after touchdown

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill always has something up his sleeve when it comes to touchdown celebrations.

After all, Hill had plenty to celebrate on a record-tying day.

Hill scored a 41-yard touchdown from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on Sunday, and proceeded to grab a cell phone from someone standing behind the end zone.

Hill proceeded to take a selfie video of himself backflipping, and saluting with a peace sign in just the latest opportunity to have some fun during the Dolphins' start this season.

"I know the NFL is going to fine me for it, but it’s worth it though," Hill said.

"Just being able to create memories I can look back on whenever I’m done playing is always something I think of each time I play this game. Every time I step on the field, I’m going to try to make it memorable."

While Hill said he did not have the celebration planned, the media member in the end zone recording on his phone is an associate of Hill who also works for the NFL.

Kevin Fitzgibbons declined an interview after the game when reached by USA TODAY Sports.

The selfie video was posted on the NFL UK account on X, but it was then quickly deleted.

Hill finished with 163 yards on six catches, while Tagovailoa threw three touchdowns and running back Raheem Mostert accounted for three touchdowns of his own in Miami’s 42-21 win over the Carolina Panthers at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday.

Tyreek Hill in the NFL record books

Hill’s 814 yards through the first six games of the season stands as the most for any player during the Super Bowl era, trailing only Hall of Famer Don Hutson's all-time mark of 819 set in 1942.

Hill also had his 15th game with at least 150 yards receiving, tying Jerry Rice for the second-most before the age of 30, according to ESPN Stats & Info. Only Lance Alworth (17) had more.

NFL could fine Tyreek Hill again

Hill’s touchdown, however, will surely be subject to an NFL fine – something he’s gotten used to this season.

Hill was fined for last week’s celebration: He threw up a peace sign toward New York Giants defenders while scoring a 69-yard touchdown – an offense he has been fined for in the past.

Hill has also been fined this season for not wearing socks in certain games. Hill said he hasn’t had time to put socks on because he’s busy getting an IV before games and runs out of time.

Hill said this week he would comply by wearing socks. But he didn’t say anything about easing up on his touchdown celebrations.

"It’s just one of those issues that if it’s a recurring thing. Obviously, you’ve got a first penalty, a second penalty, and third penalty and things continue to multiply," Hill said of his fines earlier this week.

"Luckily, I’ve been putting to use some of my leverage to get some of those reduced. Like I said, from here on out, I’ve just got to comply."

Hill was penalized for taunting after the touchdown score.
