Five Texas A&M videos every Aggie football fan should watch at least once

Texas A&M University is a school rich in traditions that might seem out of the ordinary to outsiders. Whether it’s Midnite Yell or the Elephant Walk it’s evident that A&M definitely walks to the beat of its own drum.

One of the most well-known traditions was birthed at a football game on January second, 1922.  Texas A&M was in a dogfight against Centre College, and Coach Dana X. Bible was in need of reserves just for a “break glass in case of emergency” situation. That’s when E. King Gill was called from the stands to suit up and stand by. Gill never entered the game, but his readiness dubbed him the twelfth man willing to enter the contest if needed.

The longstanding tradition of the 12th Man is one displayed at every Texas A&M football game where the student section exhibits the spirit of Gill by standing the whole game prepared to be called into action.

With that being said below are five videos every Aggie football fan should watch at least once:

They Call Me SIrr

Overview

From IMBD

“Sirr Parker, raised in tough South Central Los Angeles, was abandoned by his junkie mother and raised by his grandmother until Coach Griffin takes him under his wing at Locke High School. Meant to be an inspirational story, the former Texas A&M standout was signed as a 1998 undrafted rookie free agent by the San Diego Chargers and makes the practice squad but was waived and signed by two more teams before he finally switched positions and stuck with the Cincinnati Bengals for the last three games of the 2000 season. He was then released for a very minor violation of team off-season rules regarding place of residence.”sandlot3

History of the Wrecking Crew

From TexAgs

Throughout the late 20th century, R.C. Slocum’s defenses were known for a fun, fast, stifling and downright nasty style of play that never left opposing offenses wanting more. In Aggieland, however, they were simply known as ‘The Wrecking Crew.’
