Names you're going to see and hear a lot this high school football season
With the high school football season set to start on Aug. 24, here is a look at five players you could know well by November.
Izayuh Claudio, RB, Montwood
Claudio is a talented running back when healthy and he has potential to produce big numbers for the Rams. If he has a big year, he may help lead the Rams back to the playoffs in Class 6A.
Tristan Lopez, WR, Riverside
Lopez flew under the radar last year on a talented Riverside offense but with mainstays Jose Guardado and Angel Munoz graduated, Lopez could be one of the top offensive players in El Paso when the 2023 season is complete.
TJ Locklin, LB, Canutillo
Locklin is one of the best defensive players not just in El Paso and with another big season, he may be well be one of the best in Texas. Locklin has a great feel for the game and will be an experienced leader for the Eagles, who won a two playoff games in 2021 and 2022.
Timothy Galloway, DE, Americas
Galloway is a playmaker on defense for the Trailblazers, who weren't that far away from making the playoffs in 2022. He is receiving Division I interest and a healthy Galloway could mean Americas will return to the playoffs.
Vaughntel Faleafaga, DL/OL, Austin
Faleafaga will be a force on both sides of the ball for the Panthers and he could also see some time at running back. Faleafaga is starting to get attention from college coaches and will be key in Austin's quest for a district championship in District 1-4A Division I.
