Fisher Cats hold off Yard Goats, win series

Aug. 20—The New Hampshire Fisher Cats hit four home runs for the second straight game and defeated the host Hartford Yard Goats 7-6 on Sunday to win the week-long series.

The Fisher Cats (18-25, 53-58) scored single runs in the first, second and fourth innings before adding three runs in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead.

New Hampshire's Will Robertson had a solo homer in the second inning, before Miguel Hiraldo had a two-run homer in the fifth followed by Damiano Palmegiani's solo shot for the 6-0 advantage.

Hartford cut into New Hampshire's lead with a three-run outburst in the bottom of the sixth, before Palmegiani again went deep with a solo homer in the top of the seventh for a 7-3 lead.

Hartford again answered with a single run in the eighth and two in the ninth. The Yard Goats (21-23, 50-61) scored three runs in the final two innings and put the tying and winning runs on base with two outs in the ninth before T.J. Brock struck out Bedford's Grant Lavigne to collect his seventh Double-A save and end the game.

Starting pitcher Chad Dallas earned the win for New Hampshire, allowing three runs on four hits over six innings.

The Fisher Cats return home to play host to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Tuesday night.
