Final Stretch: Top Greater Taunton H.S. sports performers for May 20-26

The final full week of the spring high school sports regular season is upon us in the Greater Taunton area.

Last week, Taunton baseball clinched its first outright Hockomock Kelley-Rex title since 2013 while Taunton boys lacrosse topped Bristol-Plymouth in an intracity showdown. Several area track athletes were crowned champions in their respective leagues, Bridgewater-Raynham boys lacrosse and Dighton-Rehoboth girls lacrosse secured their tournament spots. Bristol-Plymouth softball avenged its lone shutout loss to Greater Lowell Tech with a 6-2 win over the Gryphons in Tyngsborough.

Here's a look at all of the scores, stats and highlights from the fourth week of May.

Sunday

Boys Track and Field

Dmitrius Shearrion finished fourth in the 100 meter (0:10.84) while Ancil Alexander finished sixth in the shot put (49'1") as Taunton (2-2, 2-2 Hockomock) finished eighth with 32 points at the MIAA Division 1 Championship at Westfield State University.

Marqui Galvin won the long jump (22'5.25", personal best) as Bridgewater-Raynham (3-0, 3-0 SEC) finished sixth with 44 points at the MIAA Division 2 Championship at Merrimack College. The 4x400 meter relay team of Connor Johnson, Caiden Blake, Dan Leet and Jack Hannigan came in second (3:27.72), Kauan Bento finished third in the 100 meter (0:11.01), Hannigan finished fourth in the 400 meter (0:56.26, personal best), Jack Alves finished sixth in the pole vault (11', personal best), the 4x600 meter relay team of Riley Frisch, Leet, Cole Bridges and Ryan Hall finished sixth (8:10.76), the 4x100 meter relay team of Joseph Manning, Evan Bray, Johnson and Bento finished seventh (0:43.96), Bray finished eighth in the 100 meter (0:11.23) and Carl Plaisir finished eighth in the long jump (21'1.5").

The 4x400 meter relay team of Matthew Suprenard, Seamus Sullivan, Joel DaSilva and William Dalton came in third with a school record time of 3:30.27 as Dighton-Rehoboth (4-1, 4-1 SCC) finished fourth with 37 points at the MIAA Division 5 Championship at Bridgewater State University. Dalton finished fourth in the 400 meter (0:50.58, personal best) while Cole Gifford finished fifth in the javelin (150'3", personal best), Tim Zibrida finished sixth in the shot put (43'5.5") and Cam St. James finished seventh in the 110 meter hurdles (0:16.47).

Girls Track and Field

The 4x100 meter relay team of Sophia Hall, Chloe Blanc, Nevaeh Young and Grace Inacio came in sixth with a time of 0:50.97 as Taunton (1-3, 1-3 Hockomock) finished tied for 18th with 19 points at the MIAA Division 1 Championship at Westfield State University.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Alisha Gomes, Brenna Woodbury, Lily Giurleo and Annalyne Barrett finished third (4:05.83) while Camden Strandberg finished fourth in the high jump (5'2") and Gomes finished sixth in the 100 meter (0:12.94) as Bridgewater-Raynham (3-0, 3-0 SEC) finished 15th with 15 points at the MIAA Division 2 Championship at Merrimack College.

Mari Lavigne came in fourth in the javelin (109'2") as Dighton-Rehoboth finished tied for 28th with five points at the MIAA Division 5 Championship at Bridgewater State University.

Saturday

Baseball

Bristol-Plymouth (8-11, 6-4 MAC) fell 2-0 to Haverhill in the title game of the Haverhill Baseball Tournament at Haverhill High School to wrap up the season.

Softball

Aniyah Bailey led the way at the plate for Taunton (20-0, 16-0 Hockomock), going 2-for-3 with a home run, a pair of runs and an RBI as the Tigers beat Bishop Feehan 4-2 on the road in non-league action to wrap up the regular season. Mia Torres went 1-for-4 with an RBI while Bella Bourque had a run and Brooke Aldrich had an RBI. Sam Lincoln earned the win, going all seven innings giving up a pair of unearned runs on a pair of hits and a walk while striking out 14 and also had an RBI at the plate.

Ava Selter led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (13-6, 7-1 SEC), going 2-for-2 with a home run, three runs and four RBIs as the Trojans beat Durfee 16-3 at home in 4½ innings of SEC action. Avery Erlichman went 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs while Madison O'Keefe went 1-for-3 with a run and a pair of RBIs, Claire Roy went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs and an RBI, Olivia Roy went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI and Lily Berman went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Maddie DeLano earned the win for B-R going all five innings giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out seven.

Girls Lacrosse

Emily Keefe led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (6-14, 2-2 SEC) with four goals and a pair of assists as the Trojans beat Silver Lake at home in non-league action to wrap up the regular season. Ashley McLaren had a pair of goals while Emily Long and Lexi White both found the back of the net.

Boys Track and Field

Ewan McLeod finished fifth in the high jump (6'2") as Bristol-Plymouth finished 29th with four points at the MIAA Division 3 Championship at Bridgewater State University.

Girls Track and Field

Mari Albon finished ninth in the javelin (94'4") as Bristol-Plymouth finished unranked at the MIAA Division 3 Championship at Bridgewater State University.

Baseball

Zach Branco led the way at the plate for Bristol-Plymouth (8-10, 6-4 MAC), going 2-for-2 with a triple, a run and a pair of RBIs as the Craftsmen beat Methuen 12-6 in the first round of the Haverhill Baseball Tournament at Haverhill High School. Kyle Weldon went 2-for-4 with a run and a pair of RBIs while Antonio Cirino went 0-for-1 with three runs on three walks, Thaniel LaBrie went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs, Colby Robertson went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI, Jamari Harris went 1-for-4 with a run and Devin Foley went 0-for-2 with a pair of runs on a pair of walks. Brayden Alves earned the win for B-P, going five innings giving up six runs (three earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out five and went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI at the plate. Cam Cruz tossed the final two shutout innings striking out four.

Lucas LeTourneau led the way at the plate for Dighton-Rehoboth (13-7, 9-6 SCC), going 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI as the Falcons beat Oliver Ames 4-3 on the road in non-league action to wrap up the regular season. Jordan Castro went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs, including the go-ahead run off a bases-loaded walk to Gavin Salera. Ben Miller earned the win for D-R, tossing the final shutout inning striking out one and went 0-for-3 with a run off a walk at the plate. Will LaBrie went the first six innings giving up three runs on nine hits and a pair of walks while striking out seven. The Falcons now await the Division 3 tournament seeding.

Softball

Sam Lincoln tossed her second perfect game of the season, striking out 12 while going 3-for-3 at the plate as Taunton (19-0, 16-0 Hockomock) beat Milford 14-0 in 4½ innings of Hockomock action. Aniyah Bailey went 2-for-3 with a home run, a pair of runs and four RBIs while Bella Bourque went 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs, Molly Carnes went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs and an RBI, Mia Torres went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs, Cate Larson went 1-for-2 with a home run, run and a pair of RBIs, Bridget MacDougall went 1-for-2 with three runs and Madison Crowley went 1-for-2 with a run.

"Getting a perfect game on senior night was a fitting tribute to Sammy's outstanding work ethic," Taunton coach Michelle Lincoln said. "Our bats were alive early which allowed her to relax and pitch her game."

Maddie DeLano led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (12-6, 6-1 SEC), going all seven innings giving up five runs (one earned) on nine hits and two walks while striking out seven and went 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate as the Trojans fell 5-3 to King Philip at home in non-league action. Taylor Reid went 1-for-4 with a run while Lily Berman went 1-for-3 with a run and Claire Roy went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Cam Cloonan led the way at the plate for Dighton-Rehoboth (18-3, 11-3 SCC), going 3-for-4 with three home runs, including the walk-off winner, four runs and six RBIs as the Falcons beat Middleboro 8-6 at home in eight innings non-league action to wrap up the regular season. Skye Harrison went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs while Haleigh Kelley went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Izzy Moss had a run. Edy Latour earned the win after going six shutout innings in relief giving up four runs and three hits while striking out seven. Kylie Hillier went the first two innings giving up six runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks.

Girls Lacrosse

Ashley McLaren had a hattrick while Claire Fitzsimmons and Emily Long both had a goal and an assist, Grace LaRose and Kate Lambert both had a goal and Lexi White and Audrey Lambert each recorded an assist. B-R now awaits the Division 1 tournament seeding.

Kauan Bento finished eighth in the 200 meter (0:22.72) while Dan Leet finished eighth in the 800 meter (2:02.47) as Bridgewater-Raynham (3-0, 3-0 SEC) sits tied for 13th with six points after the first day of the MIAA Division 2 Championship at Merrimack College.

Madison Root finished 18th in the triple jump (30'8") for Dighton-Rehoboth on the first day of the MIAA Division 5 Championship at Bridgewater State University.

Dwayne Burgo drove in Brayden Cali on a walk-off sacrifice bunt as Taunton (18-4, 14-2 Hockomock) beat Durfee 2-1 in eight innings of non-league action to wrap up the regular season. Chris Wallace went 1-for-3 with an RBI while Andrew Cali went 0-for-2 with a run off a walk and Jared Spencer went 2-for-3. Jack Cali earned the win after tossing the final two shutout innings giving up a pair of hits after Brady Morin went six innings giving up a run on five hits and a walk while striking out a pair. The Tigers now await the Division 1 tournament seeding.

Josh Letourneau led the way for Taunton (5-13, 1-10 Hockomock) with a pair of goals and a pair of assists as the Tigers fell 6-5 to Bristol-Plymouth at home in non-league action to wrap up the season. Braden Lachance had a pair of goals while Blake Mitchell had a goal and an assist.

Brendan Rosher led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (12-6) with four goals and a pair of assists as the Trojans beat Plymouth South 9-7 on the road to wrap up the regular season. Colin Carfagna had a hattrick while Jayson Kelleher had a pair of goals. B-R now awaits the Division 2 tournament seeding.

Bobby Quill led the way at the plate for Bridgewater-Raynham (6-13, 3-4 SEC), going 3-for-4 with an RBI as the Trojans fell 8-2 to North Attleboro on the road in non-league action. Ryan Stasiuk went 1-for-3 with a run while Ryan Powers-Ip went 0-for-2 with a run. Carson Lanagan took the loss for B-R after going 2⅓ innings giving up seven runs (six earned) on five hits and six walks while striking out three. Camden Swinton pitched ⅔ of an inning giving up a run on a hit and a pair of walks before Jack Haley tossed a shutout inning, Shamus Barrett tossed a shutout inning giving up a walk while striking out one and Cam Santos tossed the final shutout inning surrendering a walk.

Jaiden Solitro had a pair of goals and three assists while Fletcher O'Connor had a pair of goals, Jack Horrocks and Sam Bastis both found the back of the net and Jason Proctor recorded an assist.

Girls Lacrosse

Cali Melo led the way for Taunton (0-17, 0-11 Hockomock) with a pair of goals, an assist and six draws as the Tigers fell 14-5 to Dighton-Rehoboth on the road in non-league action. Taryn Campbell had a pair of goals and five draws while Madison Cardoso and Kassidy Ferrarese both found the back of the net and Jackie Tokarz recorded an assist. Olivia Espada made 14 saves in net.

Emily Keefe led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (5-13, 2-2 SEC) with a pair of goals and three assists as the Trojans fell 17-7 to Nantucket at home in non-league action. Emily Long had a pair of goals while Erin Rennie, Kate Lambert and Lexi White all found the back of the net. Ainsley Yates made 19 saves in net for B-R.

Bristol-Plymouth (4-12, 4-9 MAC) fell 12-7 to South Shore Tech at home in MAC action.

Karina Bosco led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (10-6, 5-4 SCC) with seven goals and three draws as the Falcons beat Taunton 14-5 at home in non-league action. Gia Papa had a hattrick while Mara Levesque had a pair of goals and a pair of assists, Ainsley Zibrida had a goal and a pair of assists, Olivia Thibert had a goal and an assist and Kelsey Palmer and Angela Gabriel each recorded an assist.

Boys Tennis

Taunton (3-16, 1-15 Hockomock) fell 5-0 to North Attleboro on the road in Hockomock action.

Bridgewater-Raynham (5-9, 3-4 SEC) fell 4-1 to Falmouth on the road in non-league action.

Girls Tennis

Taunton (14-4, 11-4 Hockomock) swept Milford 5-0 on the road in Hockomock action.

Bridgewater-Raynham (10-4, 6-1 SEC) fell 5-0 to Falmouth at home in non-league action.

Boys Volleyball

Taunton (5-14) fell 3-1 to Greater New Bedford on the road.

Ian Hoskins led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (12-6, 10-4 TVL) with 15 kills while Connar Dexter had 11 kills, Yasiel Rodriguez had 29 assists and Jacob St. Vincent had 15 digs as the Falcons beat Bellingham 3-2 (15-25, 28-25, 25-19, 21-25 and 15-11) at home in TVL action to close out the regular season. Joe Benoit went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Brayden Cali and Caden Lindskog both went 1-for-4 with a run, Dwayne Burgo went 1-for-4 with an RBI, Chris Wallace went 1-for-2 with an RBI, Jared Spencer went 0-for-3 with a run and Jace Galante went 0-for-1 with an RBI. Johnny Escobalez earned the win, going 6⅓ innings giving up an unearned run on a hit and three walks while striking out six. Tyler Lacerda tossed the final ⅔ of an inning striking out one.

Boys Lacrosse

Jayson Kelleher and Nikos Triantafillou each recorded hattricks for Bridgewater-Raynham (11-6) as the Trojans beat Canton 12-1 at home. Corey Herbert and Braden Silva both found the back of the net while Shaun LaCivita made numerous strong saves in net.

Girls Lacrosse

Bristol-Plymouth (4-11, 4-8 MAC) fell 13-2 to Barnstable on the road in non-league action.

Boys Tennis

Bridgewater-Raynham (5-8, 3-4 SEC) dropped both matches to Durfee, 4-1 and 3-2, at home in an SEC doubleheader.

Dighton-Rehoboth (9-5, 7-5 SCC) swept Seekonk 5-0 at home in SCC action.

Girls Tennis

Nicole Kimball and Eily Mitchell won first and second singles respectively in both matches, as did the the first doubles pairing of Lily Cooley and Tamia McQueen, as Bridgewater-Raynham (10-3, 6-1 SEC) beat Durfee 4-1 and 3-2 on the road in an SEC doubleheader.

Ava Selter led the way at the plate for Bridgewater-Raynham (11-5, 5-1 SEC), going 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI as the Trojans beat Dartmouth 11-4 on the road in SEC action. Olivia Roy went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs and an RBI while Talia Faria went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run, Chloe Martin went 1-for-3 with a run and a pair of RBIs, Avery Erlichman went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Lily Berman went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Maddie DeLano earned the win for B-R, going all seven inning giving up four runs (two earned) on eight hits and four walks while striking out three and went 3-for-4 at the plate.

Isabella Torres led the way at the plate for Bristol-Plymouth (12-6, 9-2 MAC), going 3-for-4 with a home run, a pair of runs and three RBIs as the Craftsmen beat Blue Hills 16-0 at home in 4½ innings of MAC action. Victoria D'Aiello went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs and three RBIs while Emma Coxall went 1-for-1 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs, Ari Richards went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs and an RBI, Jessica Slavick went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs, Shelby Estrella went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, Bree Aldrich went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI and Sara Norcross went 0-for-2 with a run off a walk. Aubrey Mabrouk earned the win for B-P after going all five shutout innings giving up a pair of hits and a walk while striking out eight.

Cam Cloonan led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (16-3, 11-3 SCC), going 3-for-4 with a triple, a home run, a pair of runs and three RBIs as the Falcons beat Seekonk 17-2 on the road in SCC action. Emma Horrocks went 3-for-5 with five RBIs while Haleigh Kelley went 3-for-5 with three runs and an RBI, Lucy Latour went 3-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, Ally Bastis went 1-for-3 with a pair of runs, Izzy Moss went 1-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, Skye Harrison went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI, Caleigh Cloonan went 1-for-3 with a run, Hannah Carey had a pair of runs and Giselle Pacheco had a run. Edy Latour earned the win for D-R after going five innings giving up an unearned run on a hit and a walk while striking out nine and went 0-for-3 with a run at the plate. Kylie Hillier tossed the final two innings giving up a run on a hit and three walks.

Boys Lacrosse

Taunton (5-11, 1-10 Hockomock) fell 21-1 to Franklin at home in Hockomock action.

Anthony Mussari, Nolan Barbour, Corey Herbery and Jaxon McCauley were among the nine goal scorers for Bridgewater-Raynham (10-6) as the Trojans beat Seekonk 15-2 at home.

Dighton-Rehoboth (5-9, 3-7 SCC) fell 11-10 to Bourne in overtime at home in SCC action.

Girls Lacrosse

Cali Melo led the way for Taunton (0-16, 0-11 Hockomock) with a hattrick and five draws as the Tigers fell 19-3 to Franklin on the road in Hockomock action. Maddi Szala had an assist while Olivia Espada made four saves in net.

Emily Keefe led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (5-12, 2-2 SEC) with a hattrick and four assists, including her 200th career point, as the Trojans beat Dighton-Rehoboth 14-10 on the road in non-league action. Lexi White and Grace LaRose each had hattricks while Ashley McLaren had a pair of goals and an assist and Kate Lambert, Emily Long and Claire Fitzsimmons all found the back of the net. Ainsley Yates made 22 saves in net for B-R.

Karina Bosco led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (9-6, 5-4 SCC) with five goals, an assist and eight draws as the Falcons fell 14-10 to Bridgewater-Raynham at home in non-league action. Gia Papa had a pair of goals and an assist while Olivia Thibert had a pair of goals, Mara Levesque had a goal and three assists, Ainsley Zibrida had a pair of assists and Ava Morgado had an assist. Phoebe Braga made five saves in net for D-R.

Boys Tennis

Eduardo Gardinal won second singles 6-4, 6-1 as Taunton (3-15, 1-14 Hockomock) fell 4-1 to King Philip at home in Hockomock action.

Girls Tennis

Sarah Riveiro won first singles 6-1, 6-0 while Ava Alves won third singles 7-6 (2), 6-3, the duo of Janelle Garcia and Ava Olivadesa won first doubles 6-1, 6-4 and the duo of Caroline Pietnik and Sam Parett won second doubles 7-5, 7-6 (5) as Taunton (13-4, 10-4 Hockomock) beat King Philip 4-1 on the road in Hockomock action.

Dighton-Rehoboth (4-11, 4-9 SCC) fell 3-2 to Somerset Berkley at home in SCC action.

Boys Track and Field

Braden Erlichman won the javelin with a personal best throw of 150'6" as Bristol-Plymouth finished eighth overall with 19 points at the MAC Championship at Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School. Other point scoring performances include Danny Keefe finishing third in the two mile (11:02.65, personal best) and sixth in the mile (5:01.25), Ewan McCleod finishing fifth in the high jump (5'8"), William Cree finishing seventh in the 200 meter (0:24.98), Ethan Maloney finishing seventh in both the javelin (125'10", personal best) and long jump (18'11", personal best), Sebastian Rito finishing eighth in the triple jump (37'4") and the 4x100 meter relay team of Cree, Rito, Matt Keefe and Erlichman finishing eighth (0:49.69).

Girls Track and Field

Christele Derogene won the shot put (30'1.5") and finished fifth in the discus (79'5") while Mari Albon won the javelin (96'11") as Bristol-Plymouth finished seventh overall with 39 points at the MAC Championship at Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School. Other point scoring performances include Olivia Sanchez finishing third in the 100 meter (0:12.86, personal best) and fifth in the 800 meter (2:47.94, personal best), Zoey Onuegbu finishing third in the 100 meter (0:12.86, personal best), the 4x100 meter relay team of Christla Douyon, Onuegbu, Amiaya Hale and Sanchez finishing fifth (0:55), Caitlin Nixon finishing sixth in javelin (77'8", personal best) and Douyon finishing eighth in the long jump (13'9", personal best).

Boys Volleyball

Taunton (5-13) swept Attleboro 3-0 on the road.

Connar Dexter had eight kills and eight blocks while Ian Hoskins had eight kills and six blocks as Dighton-Rehoboth (11-6, 9-4 Tri-Valley League) fell 3-0 (12-25, 18-25 and 21-25) to Medfield on the road in SCC action.
