Final on 15 May:FCB Youth Cup visits Austria & Japan

The teams representing Austria and Japan in the FCB Youth Cup Final on 15 May at the Allianz Arena have been determined.

The selection tournament at the UniCredit Center centre in Vienna was held on Easter Saturday in cooperation with the YoungCaritas Käfig League and Bank Austria. FC Bayern Youth Cup patron Paul Breitner was thoroughly impressed with the standard of the tournament as a whole and the quality shown by many individual players. Defending champions Austria seem certain to send another strong team to this year’s Grand Final.

The FC Bayern Youth Cup then travelled to Sendai in Japan the following weekend. For the fourth time in a row the tournament was staged in partnership with Yingli Solar in a region that was severely affected in 2011 by a tsunami, an earthquake and the Fukushima nuclear catastrophe.

The region is still suffering from a shortage of football pitches as suitable sites are required for other purposes including new housing. With the staging of the FC Bayern Youth Cup, FC Bayern and Yingli aim to promote youth football in the region and are looking forward to offering ten young players a special and memorable experience when they participate in the week-long Grand Final event in Munich.

The FC Bayern Youth Cup Japan is also supported by adidas, Lufthansa and the Bundesliga.
