Filip Petrusev among 76ers players involved in James Harden trade

After months of trade speculation, the Philadelphia 76ers have reportedly agreed to trade James Harden to the Los Angeles Clippers for a package of players and draft picks.

The 76ers are sending Harden, PJ Tucker and Filip Petrusev to the Clippers in exchange for Marcus Morris, Nic Batum, Robert Covington and KJ Martin. Philadelphia will waive veteran Danny Green to create the roster space needed to facilitate the trade.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN first reported the news.

The Clippers are also sending the Sixers an unprotected 2028 first-round pick, two second-round picks, a 2029 pick swap and another first-round pick from Oklahoma City. They will send the Thunder a 2027 first-round pick swap.

The Sixers will maintain their cap flexibility with the trade after acquiring players on expiring contracts. They can potentially have as much as $65 million in cap space next summer as the front office looks to build around Joel Embiid.

The Clippers will now add Harden and Tucker to a core that features Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Russell Westbrook, Norman Powell and Ivica Zubac among others. The team is still determining if it will keep Petrusev after the trade becomes official.

The acquisition of Harden moved the Clippers’ odds of winning the championship from plus-2000 to plus-1300, according to the BetMGM Sportsbook. The 76ers’ odds dropped to plus-2800.
