Fifteen wrestlers from seven Section 9 schools to represent at state girls invitational
Seven schools from Section 9 will send 15 wrestlers to the New York State girls invitational next week.
The tournament will be held in Syracuse at the SRC Arena and Events Center on the campus of Onondaga Community College on Jan. 26.
Minisink Valley junior Patricia Deslandes was a winner at last Saturday’s Eastern States Classic girls event at SUNY Sullivan. Other ESC medalists who will participate in the state invitational include silver medalists Norma Aviles of Middletown, Rebecca Brennan of New Paltz, Jaida Macaluso of Minisink; bronze medalists Cheyenne Graham and Zoe Kip of Liberty, Brooke Tarshis of Pine Bush and Savannah Tittelback of Saugerties; and fourth-place finishers Sara Pauls and Keira Filip of Minisink.
At the 2023 New York girls invitational, Pauls won at 107, Tarshis was second at 120, Filip was fourth at 114, Macaluso was fourth at 126 and Kip was fourth at 152.
