FC Cincinnati: Dominic Kinnear to lead team at RBNY in Pat Noonan's absence

HARRISON, New Jersey − Long-time Major League Soccer head coach and current FC Cincinnati assistant, Dominic Kinnear, will manage FC Cincinnati while Pat Noonan is away from the team attending to personal matters.

In a statement released on Twitter, FC Cincinnati announced the following at around 6:40 p.m. regarding coaching duties for Wednesday's match: "FC Cincinnati assistant coach Dominic Kinnear will serve as head coach for tonight’s match against the New York Red Bulls while head coach Pat Noonan is away from the team for a personal matter. Noonan will resume head coaching duties when he returns to the team tomorrow."

Peter "Big Pete" Noonan died July 3. Pat Noonan also took personal time away from the team last week to be with his mother and siblings.

Speaking to The Enquirer following Saturday's 2-2 draw with Charlotte FC, Pat Noonan paid tribute to his father, saying: “He was a great man. Great father. Great husband. Good friend,” Pat Noonan said. “The amount of people reaching out in the last week for just people that we were connected with tells you everything. That’s not to include all the messages from all of my siblings. He had an incredible impact on so many people’s lives, and all of the relationships with these people were unique. They all felt special when they were around him. It’s pretty cool.”

Prior to Saturday's match, FC Cincinnati's starters posed for a picture while holding an orange FC Cincinnati jersey with "Big Pete" printed on the back.

Dominic Kinnear compiled a 54-45-48 record during two stints as coach of the San Jose Earthquakes.
