Fayetteville State women's, men's basketball picked to sweep CIAA Southern Division

With the 2023-24 CIAA basketball season set to begin in a month, the league announced its preseason all-conference teams and predicted order of finish Monday — and Fayetteville State is well-represented.

The Broncos have been picked to sweep the Southern Division in men's and women's basketball, as voted on by CIAA head coaches. The FSU men, one year removed from a CIAA Tournament championship, were picked to finish No. 1 in the conference overall.

Individually, FSU guard Aniylah Bryant from Havelock earned a first-team All-CIAA Preseason Team selection, and the Broncos' returning All-CIAA guard Tyler Foster, from Baltimore, Maryland, was named to the men's 2023-24 preseason squad.

The FSU women wound up with an 18-7 record and another Southern Division crown — their fourth in the last five seasons. Their last CIAA Tournament championship came in 2020.
