Scott Langer, the former Aberdeen Wings coach who led the team to unprecedented success, is out as head coach of the Fargo Force.

The Force announced the news in a statement.

"Head Coach Scott Langer and Assistant Coach Michael Hill will not be returning," the statement said, thanking the men and wishing them best, but not elaborating.

Hill was Langer's assistant in Aberdeen, too.

Langer, who coached in Aberdeen from 2016-2021, has a record of 637-244-82 in the North American Hockey League. He's the winningest coach in league history. With the Wings, he was promoted to general manager in 2019.

In the 2018-19 season, the Wings won the NAHL championship with a 2-1 victory over Fairbanks. Last season, Aberdeen amassed 51-4-0-1 regular-season record, but lost to Shreveport in the title game.

Langer had a 28-28-4 record in Fargo. The Force were eliminated in the opening round of the United States Hockey League playoffs. In junior hockey ranks, the USHL is a step above the NAHL.
