Phil Mickelson made history on Sunday at Kiawah Island, and the fans were right there with him.

Lefty won the PGA Championship at the Ocean Course by two shots for his sixth career major championship win. At 50, the Hall of Famer is now the oldest man to ever win a major.

Naturally, Mickelson’s win sent golf fans both in person at the course and on social media rushing to celebrate.

Mickelson mobbed by fans on No. 18

Just like Tiger Woods' final approach at East Lake when he won the Tour Championship, golf fans at the Ocean Course erupted for Mickelson's win on the 18th hole.

Fans formed a huge mob behind him for his final walk up to the green. At one point, it looked as if they weren't even going to let Mickelson get to the putting surface.

Fans erupt on social media

Once his final putt fell and the win was official, social media was full of tributes to Mickelson.
