FAMU baseball thwarted in midweek road game at Troy

TROY, ALABAMA ― Though they had plenty of opportunities, Florida A&M had a hard time cashing them in, leaving 12 Rattlers on base in a 12-2 defeat at the hands of the Troy Trojans on Tuesday.

Senior Dallas Tease (0-4) started and took the loss on the mound for FAMU (9-16). Senior Logan Sharpton was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going two shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking one and striking out one.

The Rattlers were trailing 4-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. FAMU plated a run on a based-loaded walk by graduate student Adam Haidermota.

The Rattlers deficit grew to 9-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the seventh inning. Graduate student Joseph Pierini came across to score the lone run of the inning for FAMU, which tightened the Trojans lead to 9-2. The Rattlers were unable to get any closer, as Troy added three runs to their tally on the way to a 12-2 final.
