Falcons interview Vic Fangio for defensive coordinator vacancy

The search for Dean Pees’ replacement is still going strong as the Falcons are set to interview former Broncos head coach Vic Fangio for their defensive coordinator vacancy, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday.

Fangio is currently serving as a defensive consultant for the Philadelphia Eagles, but he’s been coaching in the NFL in various roles since 1986.

If the Falcons want an experienced coordinator to replace Pees, few have more than Fangio. The 64-year-old previously held the role of defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears.

Fangio was the head coach of the Broncos from 2019-2021 before stepping down with a 19-30 record after three seasons.  Atlanta also completed its interview with defensive coordinator Al Holcomb on Wednesday.
