Extra Point: Special Olympics Final Four in Elk Grove

ELK GROVE, Calif. (KTXL) – Laguna Creek High School in Elk Grove hosted a Special Olympics Final Four on Friday night as the school district wrapped up its three-week basketball league with the top four teams playing for a championship.

The league is all about inclusivity, pairing student-athletes with students who have special needs.

“We work with Special Olympics Northern California,” said Ryan Nill, one of the organizers of the event. “We have done the track-and-field event here for the last four or five years, and then we did a trial basketball last year with Elk Grove. And it went so well that we decided to put on a league…we are hoping to grow it next year.”
