Experts don’t believe that team up north will repeat as Big Ten champions

All eyes will be on Nov. 26 when the Ohio State Buckeyes host the annual rivalry game with the Michigan Wolverines. For most of the nation, they want to see if ‘that team up north’ can repeat as Big Ten champions. However, those in the state of Ohio are looking to best them once again.

According to this list from CBS Sports, Michigan is one of the least likely repeating conference champions.

The Wolverines put together a magical Big Ten season behind a Heisman Trophy finalist campaign from NFL first-round pick Aidan Hutchinson and a tremendous rushing year from Hassan Haskins. Both stars are off to the NFL, along with numerous other key draft picks. Michigan should improve offensively with another year for Cade McNamara and J.J. McCarthy under their belts, but Ohio State enters 2022 as a strong favorite to earn a trip to the national championship game. Even if Michigan can tread water, it might not be enough to repeat as champions.

Only the Pittsburgh Panthers in the ACC are lower on the list. It most likely will come down to which team wins “The Game” as the likely Big Ten champions in 2022. C.J. Stroud and company could get retribution and prove that last year’s contest was just a blip on the radar.
