What to expect from Coloradoan coverage of Colorado State athletics this fall
Another season is upon us, sure to be filled with intrigue.
The 2023-24 Colorado State athletics season is already off to a fascinating start.
The volleyball team drew more than 12,000 fans over its first two matches, including a top-10 win over Kentucky. The soccer team is undefeated through three games.
Football kicks off Saturday (5 p.m. at Canvas Stadium) against a Power 5 foe in Washington State.
The Coloradoan is your home for the most extensive coverage of CSU sports. Here’s a look at what to expect from my coverage:
Exclusive in-depth features and analysis: From an inside look at new volleyball coach Emily Kohan's journey to the top job, to key questions facing the football team, updates on facilities and more.
On-site at the biggest games: The Coloradoan will cover football games, along with the most important other contests, such as the volleyball team’s win over Kentucky and the upcoming showdown against CU, for example.
Daily news: Mailbags answering reader questions, injury updates, conference realignment news, transfers, recruiting and more.
On football coverage: No other media outlet is at every practice. No other outlet travels for all the road games. I do. The Coloradoan provides an exclusive inside look at the Rams, wherever they may be playing. I'll have live coverage online and on social media before and during games, then an immediate breakdown of what happened as the game ends and a column later about what it all means.
This is what readers have come to expect.
Now, as everyone has noticed, there’s a new wave of energy coming from Boulder and it’s worth noting up front that yes, I will also be writing on occasion about the Deion Sanders era at the University of Colorado.
Whether you are a fan or hate the “Coach Prime” effect (and let’s be real, almost everyone is at one end of the spectrum or the other), it’s become a cultural phenomenon. With that in mind, I will have some coverage of the spectacle in Boulder.
Not interested? That’s fine, you can cruise right past those stories to read about your favorite Rams.
The most important thing to know is any CU coverage has zero impact on the commitment to CSU coverage. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada.
I first started covering CSU during the Steve Fairchild era when I was a student. My commitment to the readers runs deep and I have a list of CSU stories seemingly a mile long to bring you this fall.
