Examining Mark Feinsand’s fits for Trey Mancini before trade deadline

Mark Feinsand of MLB.com has Notre Dame product Trey Mancini as a trade deadline candidate with rising stock. The Baltimore Orioles are in the cellar of the American League, and with Mancini arbitration-eligible for one more season, it makes little sense for one of baseball’s best run producers in 2021 to stay where he is. Feinsand offers three teams that might benefit more from Mancini’s talents. With 47 RBIs this season and a .979 OPS over the past month, Mancini could contribute to one of these suitors:

Atlanta Braves

The Braves need a left fielder with the injuries and possible suspension to Marcell Ozuna over his recent legal woes. They also haven't been above .500 all season, though they've come close a few times. The good news for them is they play in the woeful NL East, and it only takes one hot run for a team to take control of that division. Mancini would provide a nice shot in the arm.

Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers have a few candidates who could be bumped for Mancini. The most likely odd man out is first baseman Daniel Vogelbach, who is hitting below his playing weight. The Brewers find themselves locked in a battle for the NL Central with the Chicago Cubs, and they need someone to put them over the top. Mancini would be a big help in that regard.

New York Yankees

The Yankees have hit a major slump lately and slid to fourth in the AL East as a result. Not helping is the numerous holes they have in their lineup, most notably left fielder Clint Frazier and an OPS that's barely cracking .600. Of the three teams mentioned here, the Yankees have the most urgent need for Mancini as time could be running out for them to make a move before falling too far behind in the playoff race. It's only a matter of how quickly they're willing to do it.
