Ex-ESPN personality Katie Nolan joins NBC for Olympics

Katie Nolan has found her next stop. For a few weeks at least.

The former ESPN personality who left the network in September after four years is joining NBC for its coverage of the Winter Olympics. NBC announced the news on Thursday alongside a statement from Nolan.

“I always dreamed I’d go to the Olympics one day,” Nolan said, per the release. “Technically in the dream I was winning gold for Team USA, but I’m thrilled at the chance to win one with Team NBC Olympics. We get medals for this, right?”

It sounds like she'll be featured in digital content, the medium that launched her career at Fox Sports before she joined ESPN in 2017. She'll create "daily short-form content" throughout the Games, according to NBC.

It's not clear where she'll be working. NBC announced in January that is was pulling broadcast teams from Beijing for events like figure skating and snowboarding in favor of remote commentary, citing COVID-19 concerns. Media and athletes already on the ground in Beijing are experiencing rigorous COVID-19 protocols and isolation that have taken a mental toll on some before the games officially got off the ground.

Wherever she's working from, Nolan's return will be a welcome sight for her fans as she's been largely absent from the media scene since leaving ESPN.
