Ex-Cardinals' DE Chandler Jones asks Kyler Murray, Larry Fitzgerald for help in 'psych ward' message

The Arizona Cardinals all-time sack leader, Chandler Jones, needs help, according to one of his latest social media posts directed at his ex-teammates, Kyler Murray and Larry Fitzgerald on Friday.

One week after Jones was released by the Las Vegas Raiders, the embattled defensive end posted a mysterious message on X, formerly Twitter, asking his former Arizona teammates for linebacker Von Miller's phone number. Miller, a seven-time All-Pro, is with the Buffalo Bills but has been out with an injury this season.

The post was peculiar because Jones said he "felt (Miller's) spirits in the psych ward." That seemingly refers to when the Las Vegas Fire Department admitted Jones to a hospital and then a behavioral health facility on Sept. 24.

"Someone send me my brother Von Miller's number. I felt his spirits in the psych ward I was at," Jones said, and then typed in Murray's and Fitzgerald's X account handles.

The 33-year-old Jones had seen better days in the NFL before he signed a three-year, $51 million deal with Las Vegas as a free agent in March 2022 but was released by the team last weekend.

Jones played six seasons with the Cardinals, including three with Murray and five with Fitzgerald, who hasn't played for the team since 2021. Jones hasn't played a down this season and has been absent from the Raiders since Labor Day weekend.

Last month, Jones posted several since-deleted social media posts smearing the organization, including Raiders coach Josh McDaniels, general manager Dave Ziegler, and owner Mark Davis.

Following the team's 17-16 season-opening win over the Denver Broncos on Sept. 10, Jones posted in all capital letters on Instagram: "I DON'T WANNA PLAY FOR THE RAIDERS IF THAT'S MY HC, OR GM." He also claimed to have been locked out of the team's facilities, forced to do a workout at a local gym.

On Sept. 20, the Raiders placed him on the non-football illness list, citing Jones dealing with a "personal issue."

Four days later, Jones posted more now-deleted messages on X, claiming that the Las Vegas Fire Department took him to a hospital against his will and medical personnel injected him with a substance without his consent.

"I haven't done anything wrong. The police said people were concerned about me because of my posts online," Jones wrote.

Then on Sept. 29, Jones was arrested for his alleged violation of a domestic violence temporary protective order.

The Raiders posted a statement on X about Jones' situation that same day.

"The Raiders are hopeful that Chandler Jones receives the care that he needs,' the team said. "He, his family, and all those involved are in our thoughts. As this is now a legal matter, we will not be providing further comment."

Jones posted another barrage of erratic messages explaining his side of the story immediately after he was released from custody. That incident was the last straw for the Raiders. He was cut by the team after he was released from custody after his $15,000 bail was paid.
