Everything you need to know about the Knicks and Celtics' second regular season clash

The New York Knicks (5-4) and Boston Celtics (7-2) meet for the second time this year two and a half weeks after the two opened the NBA regular season against one another.

New York has rattled off three straight wins at home after back-to-back losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks at the start of November. Most recently, the Knicks routed the Charlotte Hornets, 129-107, with forward RJ Barrett (26 points) leading the team's scoring.

Meanwhile, the Celtics have regained their footing with two straight wins after suffering both of their first losses of the season in back-to-back games. They handled the Brooklyn Nets in their first game in the in-season tournament on Friday and took down the Toronto Raptors in a 23-point win the following day. Forward Jaylen Brown led Boston in scoring in both games.

Knicks at Celtics predictions

Sportsbook Wire: Knicks could pull off a victory

Ryan Dodson writes, "Boston blew the Knicks out in their 1st meeting last season, but the Knicks won the next 3 meetings — 2 in Boston. New York also held its own in the 1st matchup despite its shooting woes. The Knicks are 30th in the league shooting 42.9% from the floor, but they’re 2nd in rebounds and offensive rebounds. They’ll be in this game, and for the value, I’m taking the chance on KNICKS +310 for a HALF-UNIT."

Pickswise: Take the points for New York

Filip Tomic writes, "As soon as I saw this line it seemed a bit too big for my taste, after all the Knicks have won 6 of the last 10 meetings head-to-head, so I wouldn’t discount them so easily. New York is also off to a strong start in road games having covered in 3 of 4 outings. The first meeting of the season was won by the Celtics 108-104, but the game was pretty much in the balance with 90 seconds left in the 4th quarter. Boston still might win here, but I am expecting another close finish — which is why I like New York to cover."

BetMGM: Model has Celtics winning, covering spread

They write, "Based on recent trends, the winning team model predicts the Celtics will win Monday‘s game with 82.7% confidence, factoring in recent team & player performances for the Knicks and Celtics, plus player injuries and defensive & offensive matchups... Based on recent against-the-spread (ATS) trends, the model predicts the Celtics will cover the spread for Monday‘s game with 57.4% confidence."

Winners and Whiners: Knicks should cover the spread

Andre Ifill writes, "[T]he Celtics may win, but it won't be by more than eight points. The Knicks, as they did in game one, are one of the few teams that can beat the Celtics in turnovers and rebounds. Those marginal marginal aspects are enough to keep this game close until the final whistle, again."

"Prediction: Knicks +8.5"

ESPN: Celtics significantly favored at home

ESPN Analytics gives Boston an 80.2% chance to beat the Knicks at home. New York is left with a 19.8% chance to win the matchup.
