Everything Bucs fans need to know about Mike Evans’ new contract
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a big splash Monday morning, agreeing to terms with star wide receiver Mike Evans on a new two-year contract extension that will keep the future Hall of Famer from testing free agency next week.
Evans was set to become an unrestricted free agent and truly test the market for the first time in this legendary NFL career after spending all 10 seasons with the Bucs so far, but this new deal makes it more likely than ever that the five-time Pro Bowler will be able to finish his career where it started.
Here’s everything you need to know about Evans’ new deal:

Bringing back Mike Evans not only will help the Buccaneers offense, but it also will serve as another recruiting pitch for free-agent QB Baker Mayfield, who hoped to continue playing with the standout wideout. https://t.co/OPWOVf02KO

Mike Evans gets $52 million over two years to remain with the #Buccaneers. A big payday for a player who will be 31 on opening day but continues to produce at 1,000+ receiving yards per season. https://t.co/Tn0eLomcpm

Buccaneers GM Jason Licht's first ever first round pick in TB was Mike Evans in 2014. Mike Greenberg, the salary cap guru in TB, has been there too. Deryk Gilmore, the agent, has rep'd Evans his whole career. This was one of those Combine "Let's get in a room and figure it out."

The deal essentially makes Mike Evans NFL's 2nd highest paid WR at $26M per year after Cooper Kupp's $26,783,333 avg. Tyreek Hill is really $25M per year. He's not playing 2026 for $45M. Davante Adams won't see all $72.5M in the last 2 years of his 5 year deal with/a $28M avg. https://t.co/ubscUOM3n1
