How every Houma- and Thibodaux-area girls basketball team did in 2024 LHSAA playoffs

Six girls basketball teams in the Houma- and Thibodaux-area made it to the LHSAA playoffs, with five of them winning at least one game. One, Vandebilt Catholic, even made it to Hammond for Marsh Madness — only for the Lady Terriers to have their season end off the court instead of on it.

Here's a look at how every Houma- and Thibodaux-area girls basketball team did in the postseason:

Covenant Christian

CCA claimed the 10-seed in Division IV select and opened the playoffs with a win over No. 23 Riverside Academy, 42-6. However, the Lions' playoff run came to an end in the second round, losing 48-46 to No. 7 Highland Baptist.

E.D. White

EDW clinched the 4-seed and a first-round bye in Division II select. In its second round game, E.D. White opened the playoffs with a 58-53 win over No. 13 De La Salle, but the Cardinals were upset by No. 5 Bunkie in the quarterfinals, 42-35.

Houma Christian

HCS opened the playoffs as the 10-seed in Division III select, and beat No. 23 Sarah T. Reed, 34-6, in the first round. However, the Lady Warriors' playoff run came to an end in the second, losing 72-29 to 7-seed Glenmora.

Thibodaux

Conversely, Thibodaux pulled off the 24-over-9 upset after defeating Neville, 52-41, in the first round of the Division I non-select bracket. However, the Tigers' run came to an end in the second, losing 41-31 to 8-seed Haughton.

Vandebilt Catholic

For most of the playoffs, VCHS looked like the Houma- and Thibodaux-area's best shot at a state title. It didn't end that way, however. Vandebilt Catholic clinched the 2-seed and a first round bye in Division II select, then beat No. 15 Marion-Washington, 59-23, in the first round and No. 7 Teurlings Catholic, 69-33, in the second. However, the Lady Terriers' run came to an end in the semifinals, when the school reported an academically ineligible player and forfeited against Madison Prep.
