ESPN will air Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's startup indoor golf league starting in 2024

TGL, the indoor golf league presented by SoFi and backed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, will air on ESPN exclusively starting in January, featuring 15 regular season matches and playoffs.

The TGL teams will be comprised of PGA Tour players who will compete in an indoor arena featuring a virtual course and a physical putting green. During the game, the players' voices will be amplified through microphones, and they will participate in 3 vs. 3 team match play. All of this will take place in front of a live audience.

A preview show introducing the players, demonstrating the technology that will be used, and the newly built arena will air on Dec. 30, on ABC, the Saturday before the inaugural season.

The TGL Week 1 match is scheduled for Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, during primetime. All 2024 TGL Golf matches will be available on ESPN or ESPN+.

TGL Golf Notable Players

TGL rosters are made up of the greatest golfers in history who have won a total of 190 PGA Tour events, 28 Majors, and held the number 1 ranking for 886 weeks. Those names include:

  • Tiger Woods: Tiger Woods, one of the greatest golfers in history, has won 15 Majors and 82 PGA Tour events.

  • Rory McIlroy: McIlroy has won 4 Majors and spent over 100 weeks as World No. 1, joining Tiger Woods as the only three players to achieve this by age 25.

  • Jon Rahm: Jon Rahm, the 2023 Masters winner, has won 11 PGA Tour events and held the World No. 1 spot for 52 weeks.

  • Justin Thomas: A Kentucky Native, Justin Thomas has won 2 PGA Championships and 15 PGA Tour Events.

  • Rickie Fowler:  Rickie Fowler, a former Oklahoma State Cowboy, has won 6 PGA titles on the PGA Tour and competed in 5 Ryder Cups.

  • Collin Morikawa: Collin Morikawa has won 5 PGA PGA Tour events and two Major championships since turning professional in 2019.

  • Matt Fitzpatrick: Matt Fitzpatrick, the 2022 U.S. Open Winner with 7 international victories, recently won the 2023 Ryder Cup with Team Europe.

  • Justin Rose: Justin Rose, Olympic gold medalist, recorded the first Olympic Golf hole-in-one. He has won 11 PGA Tours events and 12 international tournaments.

  • Xander Schauffele: The 2020 gold medal in golf for Team USA in Tokyo was won by Xander Schauffele, a two-time U.S. Ryder Cup player who has won 7 PGA Tour events.

  • Max Homa: Max Homa, a California native, has won 6 PGA PGA Tour events, including the 2021 Genesis Invitational.

  • Adam Scott: Adam Scott became the first Australian golfer to win the 2013 Masters. He has won 14 PGA Tour events and 14 International tournaments.

  • Billy Horschel: Billy Horschel won the 2021 BMW PGA Championship and has 7 PGA career tour victories.

  • Tyrrell Hatton: The 2020 Arnold Palmer Invitational was won by Tyrrell Hatton, who has also achieved 7 International wins.

  • Shane Lowry: Shane Lowry, a part of Team Europe who won the 2023 Ryder Cup, has 2 PGA wins in Tour events.

  • Tommy Fleetwood: Tommy Fleetwood has won 7 International tournaments and made 3 appearances in the Ryder Cup for Team Europe, including the victorious 2023 team.

  • Tom Kim: Tom Kim, the 2021 Koren Tour Player of the Year, has won 7 international tournaments and 2 PGA Tour events.

Current TGL Golf teams

Currently, four out of six team ownership groups have been disclosed, and the names of two teams are expected to be announced soon.

  • TGL Atlanta: Arthur M. Blank leads the Atlanta-based team. This team is also led by and a part of Amb Sports + Entertainment, which comprises the Atlanta Falcons, MLS Atlanta United, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and PGA Tour Superstore.

  • TGL Boston: John Henry, Tom Werner and Fenway Sports Group lead the Boston-based team.

  • Los Angeles Golf Club: Led by tennis legends Venus Williams, Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian. Their limited partners include the Antetokoumpo brothers, USWNT player Alex Morgan, Servando Carrasco and Michelle Wie West.

  • TGL New York: Steven A. Cohen and his family, Cohen Private Ventures manage the New York-based team.
