Who has entered the transfer portal from Rutgers football this year?

So far this calendar year, three players from the Rutgers football team have entered the transfer portal. It isn’t a terribly high number, especially considering the rate of attrition in college football these days.

This number stands in stark contrast to programs like Colorado, where as many as 15 players entered the transfer portal on Monday alone. In fact, since December, 15 players from Rutgers have entered the transfer portal through this week.

That number could and should change at the conclusion of spring practice this Saturday with the annual spring game.

So far in 2023, just three Rutgers football players are in the transfer portal. The most recent additions to the transfer portal is offensive lineman Brad Harris, a walk-on from St. Joseph’s Prep (Philadelphia, PA) and former four-star linebacker Anthony Johnson:

  • Anthony Johnson (date initiated 04-18-2023)

  • Brad Harris (date initiated 04-17-2023)

  • Willie Tyler (date initiated 02-28-2023)

Johnson was dismissed from the program in late January.

These three join the 12 players who entered the transfer portal since the end of the season.

  • Damon Matthews (date initiated 12-19-2022)

  • Ugochukwu (David) Nwaogwugwu (date initiated 12-16-2022)

  • Antonio Chadha (date initiated 12-14-2022)

  • John Lanzidelle (date initiated 12-06-2022)

  • Khayri Banton (date initiated 12-05-2022)

  • Matthew Alaimo (date initiated 12-05-2022)

  • Austin Dean (date initiated 12-05-2022)

  • Andrew Vince (date initiated 12-05-2022)

  • Josh Youngblood (date initiated 12-05-2022)

  • Shawn Collins (date initiated 12-05-2022)

  • Tajadin (Taj) Harris (date initiated 12-05-2022)

  • Zachary Taylor (date initiated 12-05-2022)

  • Shawn Munnerlyn (date initiated 12-05-2022)
