End-of-season rankings: Top 35 players in Delaware high school field hockey

This year’s Delaware high school field hockey season looked like many before it, with Cape Henlopen returning to the top and Delmar staying at the top.

The Vikings squeaked past defending champion Smyrna in the DIAA Division I championship game, giving Cape its sixth D-I title since the sport was split into two divisions in 2017. It was the Vikings’ 11th crown in the last 13 years.

The Wildcats romped past Newark Charter 6-0 in the Division II championship game. Delmar has won all seven D-II titles, and eight straight overall.

Smyrna goalkeeper Halle Geiger, rated among the top players in Delaware high school field hockey, blocks a shot by Grace Wiggins of Cape Henlopen on Sept. 14.

The Delaware High School Field Hockey Coaches Association chose separate All-State teams in each division, but our final player rankings bring everyone together. Many of the top teams in each division competed against each other, so we feel it is fair to compile an overall ranking.

With input from one of the state’s top coaches and some of our own observations, here is our final ranking of the Top 35 players in Delaware high school field hockey:
