A balk played a key role in extra innings, and the Guardians lost 5-4 to the San Francisco Giants Monday night.

The Guardians took a 4-3 lead in the top of the 10th on Andres Gimenez's single to center field.

The bottom of the inning was another rough outing for Emmanuel Clase, who has struggled lately. Blake Sabol tied it with an RBI single to center field. Later in the inning, Sabol advanced to third when Clase was called for a balk. LaMonte Wade Jr. then ended the game with a single to center.

The Guardians have lost seven of their last nine games.

Josh Naylor went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs in the loss.
