El Paso amateur boxer Kaya Gomez wins international title in Puerto Rico
El Paso amateur boxer Kayla Gomez won yet another championship on Friday at the Torneo de Boxeo Internacional at the Gimnasio Pedro Rodriguez Gaya in Catano, Puerto Rico.
Gomez went 3-0 in the tournament fighting at 119 pounds, which included wins against Katherine Sterling of Haiti, Gracemarie Quiles of Puerto Rico and Angelirys Lopez of Puerto Rico.
Gomez now owns seven international championships and her title Friday night follows her National Golden Gloves Championship earlier this month in Pennsylvania.
Gomez is one of the top boxers for Team USA and fights at 110 and 119 pounds.
