Fixtures for the 2020/21 Championship season will be released on Friday 21 August.

The last campaign only finished on 4 August with Fulham’s 2-1 play-off final victory over Brentford, and the new season is set to begin on the weekend of 12 September.

The gap between terms has been significantly shortened due to the coronavirus pandemic, which caused a pause in action earlier this year.

There are set to be at least 13 midweek fixtures in the Championship next season, and fixture lists for League One and League Two will also be revealed in full at the end of next week.

Elsewhere, the first round of the Carabao Cup will take place on the weekend of 5 September – subject to international call-ups – after the draw takes place on 18 August.

The first four rounds are scheduled to take place on consecutive weeks, and two-legged semi-finals in the competition will be replaced by a single tie.

Premier League sides will enter the competition in round two or round three if they are competing in European competition next season.

There will also be no FA Cup replays during the 2020/21 season so as to ease pressure on the footballing calendar.
