Eastern Michigan's Sidy Sow selected by New England Patriots in fourth round of NFL draft

For the first time since the Las Vegas Raiders drafted Maxx Crosby in 2019, an Eastern Michigan football player has been selected in the NFL draft.

The New England Patriots drafted EMU offensive lineman Sidy Sow with pick No. 117 in the fourth round of the NFL draft on Saturday, making him the seventh-highest pick in Eastern Michigan history and the 30th player from the school picked since 1955.

Sow is the school's all-time leader in games played and starts and was first-team all-MAC in his last two seasons. The 6-foot-5, 323-pound offensive lineman is originally from Quebec, Canada and was a two-time member of Team Canada's football squad.

After playing left tackle as a freshman, Sow moved to left guard and played the rest of his college career there. He allowed just two sacks in 2023 and six in his whole career.

Sow is not the only player with connections to Eastern Michigan to be selected in the NFL draft. Kicker Chad Ryland, the program's all-time leader in extra points, went to Maryland as a grad transfer last season; he was also selected by the Patriots, just a few slots ahead of Sow at pick No. 112.
