East Lansing, Mason boys soccer lead field for CAAC Gold Cup

The East Lansing boys soccer team went perfect in the CAAC Blue while repeating as the league champion.

And the Trojans now will have a chance to add to their success in the CAAC Gold Cup.

East Lansing is the top seed for the Gold Cup, which will take place next week.

The Trojans will be joined in the Gold Cup by CAAC Red champion Mason, CAAC Blue runner-up Holt and DeWitt. East Lansing went unbeaten against the other teams in the Gold Cup, playing to a draw with Mason in its season opener and beating DeWitt and Holt in CAAC Blue play.

Division 2 No. 11-ranked Mason also went unbeaten against the other teams in the Gold Cup and beat Holt and played to ties with East Lansing and DeWitt.

Mason will host Holt and East Lansing will host DeWitt in 7 p.m. semifinals Tuesday with the winners playing for the title Thursday.

The Silver Cup is led by Okemos as the top seed. CAAC White champion Eaton Rapids is the second seed and followed by Division 3 No. 14 Williamston and Haslett. Games will be played Monday and Wednesday.

Grand Ledge heads the Bronze Cup and is followed by St. Johns, Fowlerville and Lakewood. Game will be played Tuesday and Thursday.

The Copper Cup will be played Monday and Wednesday and features Everett as the top seed and includes Ionia, Portland and Lansing Catholic.

Wavery is top seed in the five-team and single elimination consolation bracket that includes Olivet, Sexton, Eastern and Charlotte.
