Early season rankings: Top 25 runners in Delaware high school boys cross country

There is no mystery involved in determining the individual early season rankings in Delaware high school boys cross-country.

The clock tells the tale.

We take the top returning finishers from last year’s DIAA Cross Country Championships and put them in order by time to produce our early season Top 25.

Sure, some athletes may have stepped up their training and lowered their times over the summer. Others may have a nagging injury that is keeping them from reaching their best. Some freshmen may already be making an impact. Those differences will be reflected as the season unfolds.

But for now, this is a good snapshot of where the top runners stand.

There are plenty of big meets coming up, including the popular Joe O’Neill Invitational on Oct. 19 at Bellevue State Park, and the New Castle County Championships at Winterthur and Henlopen Conference Championships at Killens Pond State Park on Nov. 4.

It all leads to the annual DIAA Cross Country Championships, where the state’s best will be determined on Nov. 11 at Brandywine Creek State Park.
