Eagles vs. Jets predictions: Our expert picks on if Aaron Rodgers-less Jets have a chance

The Eagles, just like everyone else, know that Zach Wilson isn't Aaron Rodgers.

But that's not the issue anymore. Rodgers tore his Achilles just four plays into his Jets career during the season opener. He was replaced by Wilson, who the Jets had already given up on after making him the No. 2 pick in the 2021 draft.

Rodgers was supposed to be the Jets' missing piece to match up with a stellar defense for a playoff run. And this was supposed to be a marquee game, thus the 4:25 p.m. national timeslot.

PHENOMENAL START: How Eagles 'phenomenal' Hall of Fame bound(?) Jalen Carter changes NFL trade deadline plans

It hasn't worked out that way. There's only one NFL quarterback rated lower than Wilson, and he shares MetLife Stadium with Wilson in Giants QB Daniel Jones. And the Jets' highly touted defense has been middling at best because they're on the field too much because the offense can't move the ball.

The Eagles have no such problem. They've scored at least 23 points in each game and average 404 yards of offense per game.

Here's how we see it:

Our prognosticators for Week 4 are: Martin Frank (Eagles beat writer/columnist, Delawareonline.com), Greg Giesen (sports strategist, Delawareonline.com), Tom McGurk (sports editor, Courierpostonline.com), Tom Moore (sports columnist, Phillyburbs.com), Bob Jordan (Sports editor, app.com), Bert Bainbridge (Sports betting analyst & columnist, Northjersey.com), Tom Haines (Pennsylvania state planning), Brad Myers (high school sports writer, Delawareonline.com), Melissa Hanejko (High School Sports Content & Social Media, Phillyburbs.com), Kevin Tresolini, (college sports reporter, Delawareonline.com), Michelle Ganassi (audience director & die-hard Steelers fan, Delawareonline.com).

Martin Frank

The best matchup will be the Jets' young cornerback Sauce Gardner on Eagles receiver A.J. Brown. Call that a draw. There is no other matchup, whether it's on offense or defense, that would remotely favor the Jets.

The pick: Eagles 26, Jets 8

Kevin Tresolini

West Coast, East Coast, it doesn't matter. The Eagles will still coast.

The pick: Eagles 23, Jets 13

Tom Moore

The Eagles' winning ways continue.

The pick: Eagles 27, Jets 17

Tom McGurk

How do you spell victory on Sunday? E-A-G-L-E-S.  Another impressive defensive effort takes down the J-E-T-S.

The pick: Eagles 23, Jets 12

Melissa Hanejko

The Jets' offense has shown signs of life, and the defense remains solid. But that won't be the case on Sunday.

The pick: Eagles 34, Jets 15

Greg Giesen

Even if Aaron Rodgers was healthy, it wouldn't matter. The Eagles would just knock his old body out of the game. Father Time is undefeated, and right now so are the Eagles.

The pick: Eagles 27, Jets 6

Tom Haines

The Birds, a perfect 12-0 lifetime vs. the Jets, will make it lucky 13 − though no luck is necessary.

The pick: Eagles 35, Jets 14

Bert Bainbridge

The Jets won't have the same success they did last week against a porous Broncos defense. Instead, they'll be struggling to keep up with an Eagles team that has scored 25 or more points in all but one game this season.

The pick: Eagles 31, Jets 17

Bob Jordan

I'll go with the Jets if there's a 2024 game and Aaron Rodgers is under center.

The pick: Eagles 24, Jets 3

Brad Myers

Joe Namath isn't walking through that door. And if he did, it's not 1969, so it wouldn't matter.

The pick: Eagles 24, Jets 10

Overall records

5-0: Frank, Moore, Bainbridge, Hanejko, Tresolini

4-0: Ganassi

4-1: Haines, Myers, McGurk, Giesen

2-3: Jordan
