NFL free agency: Eagles plan to release star CB Darius Slay after two sides couldn't restructure deal
The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly moving on from one of their best defensive players. The team will reportedly release cornerback Darius Slay on Wednesday, according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic.

Slay hinted at the news on Twitter, telling Philadelphia he had "nothing but love" for the fans and the city. He added, "Lets see where we heading next."
Slay and the Eagles reportedly could not agree on a restructured deal, which will result in Slay being released. Slay was set to make $17 million in 2023.
Once he hits the market, Slay should draw plenty of interest. After being selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Slay eventually blossomed into a star cornerback. He made the All-Pro team and Pro Bowl in 2017 after leading the NFL with 8 interceptions.
Slay spent two more seasons in Detroit, making the Pro Bowl both years, before being traded to the Eagles. Slay continued to play at a high level in Philadelphia, making two more Pro Bowls with the team.
