Dykstra, Bobcat women hold off Weber State

Mar. 5—OGDEN, Utah — Marah Dykstra scored 20 points and Montana State held off a late Weber State charge to win 67-65 in Big Sky women's basketball Monday.

A Dykstra layup and-one put the Bobcats (16-15, 10-8 in Big Sky Conference games) up 65-50 with six minutes to go, before the WIldcats (7-24, 4-14 BSC) rallied with 11 straight points to cut the deficit to 65-61. Natalie Picton's layup with 30 seconds left proved the difference as Montana State wrapped up the season fifth in the Big Sky standings.

The trio of Laura Taylor, Kendra Parra, and Taylor Smith led Weber State with 12 points apiece. Daryn Hickok added 10 points.

Picton and Katelynn Limardo added 11 points each for Montana State. Taylor Jannsen scored 10 points to put four Bobcats in double figures.

Montana State jumped out quickly on the Wildcats taking a 10-4 lead midway through the first quarter. Weber State clawed back to tie the game through the middle part of the second quarter 24-24.

The Bobcats opened the lead out to 49-34 in the third quarter and held the Wildcats at bay until midway through the fourth quarter.

Next up, Montana State heads to the Big Sky Conference tournament in Boise Mar. 9-13.
