Draymond Green reveals primary aim for upcoming season

Draymond Green wants to help Chris Paul win a championship. Paul joined the Golden State Warriors this summer in a trade that sent Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards. Green’s comments came during an exclusive interview with ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk.

During the interview, Green noted how he isn’t aiming to redeem himself. Instead, it’s about helping the Warriors compete for championships. The Warriors last won a championship in 2022 but failed to make the NBA Finals last season. They lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs.

“I look at this as one of the most important years of my career,” Green said.” … It’s not to redeem anything about Draymond. I aim to help Chris Paul get his first championship.”

Green recently stated how he’s excited to work with Paul and learn from the veteran point guard, noting his history of unlocking the potential of younger talents.

“I actually look forward to learning this from him,” Green said. “I think Chris Paul will completely unlock Jonathan Kuminga and his growth. CP is great with young guys. Deandre Ayton looked like a bus before CP came to Phoenix. No disrespect to Ayton – more so a nod to CP. What he will do for Jonathan Kuminga and unlocking Kuminga, is huge.”

Paul and the Warriors have had countless battles throughout their career, but they find themselves fighting for one common goal. It would appear Green is already focused on helping the veteran guard win his first championship — a trophy that has eluded him.
