Drake Maye signs NIL deal with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s ZOA Energy

North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye is expanding his NIL portfolio ahead of the 2023 college football season.

On Wednesday, Maye was one of seven college athletes to sign a NIL deal with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s ZOA Energy brand. The announced the signing of the following seven athletes: Maye, Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr., Georgia’s Brock Bowers, Miami’s Kamren Kinchens, Austin Peay’s Hansel Enmanuel, LSU’s Angel Reese, and Florida A&M’s Amaya Gainer.

Each of the athletes to receive an endorsement deal was hand selected by Johnson who played college football at Miami before becoming a star in the WWE and as an actor on the big screen.

The Rock released the following statement on the partnership with the athletes:

“Through this first-of-its-kind NIL expansion program, ZOA Energy will bring together some of the greatest college athletes of our time,” The Rock said in a statement. “I know from experience the grit and hard work that’s required of these college athletes to get the job done. Not just during their championship games or in the classrooms, but every day in the game of life. ZOA gives people that power, that unique energy to fuel themselves and fuel others around them – that’s why I’m super pumped about uniting all of The Rock’s Warriors under one roof.

“I personally selected these phenomenal individuals because of the energy, tenacity, and excitement they bring to the game. With a diverse set of stories and experiences, they’re driven, hungry, talented and ready for ZOA to help fuel them to greatness.”

Maye is getting ready for his second season as a starter at North Carolina and is a projected top 5 pick going into this year for the 2024 NFL draft.
