Dowling still No. 1, Waukee Northwest joins Register's Iowa high school football rankings

It’s officially past the halfway point of the Iowa high school football season, and the results from Week 5 led to a bit of movement in the Des Moines Register’s class-by-class rankings.

There isn’t as much change as in weeks past because this is the time of year when the top programs remain at the top and the rest of the rankings are pretty well established. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some new teams in the standings this week.

In Class 5A, Dowling remains in the top spot. ADM and Williamsburg are still the No. 1 teams in their respective classes and, in fact, no top-ranked team was taken down.

Van Meter's Caleb Moore runs the ball in for a touchdown. Van Meter is ranked No. 2 in Class 2A in our post-Week 5 rankings.
