Donald Trump's new golfing buddy? Redskins QB Kirk Cousins
As you may have heard, President Donald Trump golfs a lot. And many people wouldn’t pass the opportunity to golf with the President of the United States, regardless of their politics.
That’s how Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins ended up playing a round of golf with Trump, according to the Washington Post. When Cousins arrived, the group finally included someone most Washingtonians want around for the next three-and-a-half years.

Cousins and two others golfed with Trump last Saturday at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminister, N.J., the Post said.
“Great experience,” Cousins told Mike Jones of the Post. “I didn’t ever think that would happen. Had a good enough time that if there’s any former presidents in the D.C. area that want to give me a call, I’d love to meet them at one of the courses around here. I know lots of them are members at these courses and I’m not, so I’d love to get on and get to met them. Republican, Democrat, left, right, I’d love an invite.”
Trump’s football connections have been an interesting side note to his presidency. More than 30 years ago, Trump owned the USFL’s New Jersey Generals and is widely blamed for the demise of the league. Trump aligned himself closely with his friends Tom Brady and Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots before the election, although Brady has steered clear of talking about Trump for well over a year. Earlier this month, Trump golfed with another well-known quarterback, retired star Peyton Manning.
Cousins is on the one-year franchise tag for the second straight year, and most of the talk this Redskins season will revolve around if the team can figure out a long-term deal, and if Cousins is worth it. Because of that, everything Cousins does will be scrutinized all season.
If the criticism gets too intense, maybe Cousins and his new golf partner can commiserate.
